Good texture mapping techniques allow for successful merging of 3D-rendered objects into film or video applications. Even a perfect model will not appear real without correct textures and lighting. This class is designed to expose students to the various techniques available for mapping models. Students will learn to use texture techniques as tools to achieve a level of complexity that would be difficult, or too computationally expensive by modeling alone. This course begins with covering the basic texture parameters, followed by a variety of mapping techniques. Discussion and demonstration cover topic that include mapping tools for NURBS, polygonal and subdivision surfaces, blending media, converting geometry to textures, and using 2D and 3D paint programs. |
