Shave and a Haircut is a powerful plug-in software to Maya for creating realistic looking and dynamic moving hair effects. This class will cover the creation of hair based effects for characters ranging from development of a head of hair to fully furred creatures. Lectures are a blend of technical an esthetic hair creations. The technical aspects of hair creations covers the software’s intricacies in a moderately sized production pipeline, grooming of hair, painting attribute maps, proper modeling and UV mapping for optimal performance, dynamics and compositing. The esthetics of hair covers the theory about creating great looking fur and hair with realistic rendering.
Students taking this class should be familiar with dynamics-based animation and rendering tools within Maya. This class will use Mental Ray for rendering so familiarity with this renderer is a plus. |
